Dr Errol Chan is a fellowship-trained experienced Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist.

Dr Chan graduated MBBS from the National University of Singapore with Distinction and placement on the Dean’s List, and completed Ophthalmology specialist training at the National University Health System in Singapore. He gained professional subspecialty expertise after 4 years of clinical fellowship training at some of the most prestigious eye centres internationally, including Moorfields Eye Hospital London and Optegra Eye Hospital London in the UK, and at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Dr Chan’s approach to every patient is highly personalised and he customizes every treatment plan to the patient he serves. He is driven to provide the most appropriate and safe treatment for every individual to achieve the best possible vision, without spectacles or contact lenses if so possible.

Why Do Home Vision Testing?

The purpose of Home Vision Testing is to encourage early detection and treatment of eye disorders. These tests are not a substitute for a complete eye examination by your eye doctor. However, they may help you discover a vision problem that needs medical attention. Remember, most eye disorders can be effectively treated if detected early. Bringing with him a wealth of experience and expertise from previous positions at the Ministry of Health and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Dr. Wong Hon Kiat is eager to provide safe and thoughtful care for his patients.

Dr. Wong has taken on many research projects over the years and subsequently published his findings in well-respected medical journals like the Eye Journal and Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery. His research mainly concerns eye health in Asian populations. He has also given presentations about his research at international conferences in Singapore and around the world.

In addition, Dr. Wong is a recipient of multiple awards, including those from the International Ophthalmology Congress and The Eye Institute.

Dr. James Ng

Profile

Dr James Ng, a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, specialises in both retinal surgery (such as retinal detachment repair, macula hole and epiretinal membrane surgery, vitrectomy for diabetes) and medical retina diseases (age-related macular degeneration, retinal artery/ vein occlusions, diabetic retinopathy etc). He also performs laser vision correction surgery such as Trans PRK surface ablation, LASIK and SMILE surgery. His other area of specialization is in the diagnosis and management of Uveitis (ocular inflammatory disease) which includes diagnostic vitrectomy biopsies and immunosuppression treatment which includes biologics.

Dr Ng obtained his MBBS medical qualification at the St. Bartholomew’s and The Royal London Medical School at the University of London in the UK. He also obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in the History of Medicine at the world famous Wellcome Institute in London. At Tan Tock Seng Hospital, he completed his specialty training in Ophthalmology and obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London (FRCOphth).

After obtaining Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS) and Specialist Accreditation Board accreditations, he did 3 years of subspeciality fellowship in the United Kingdom. The fellowships were in internationally renowned eye hospitals:

Dr. Philemon Huang

Profile

Dr Huang is an established consultant ophthalmologist, who specializes in glaucoma screening, early intervention, and management. He completed his MBBS in 2008, obtained MMed(Ophth) in 2012. He was awarded the Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Program Award (HMDP) and completed his glaucoma fellowship in Sydney Hospital & Westmead Hospital, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He returned to Head the Glaucoma Services at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Dr Huang has a keen interest in development of community eye screening and home monitoring programs. He is involved in the grant application and successful pilot of the Community & Home Eye Screening Services (CHESS) which won national awards. He has currently obtained grants to develop a comprehensive glaucoma community screening program tearmed Glaucoma Community-based Augmented Review and Empowerment (G-CARE).

Dr Huang is a growing expert in glaucoma management and cataract management. He specializes in Microinvasive Glaucoma Surgeries (MIGS implants such as Istent inject, Hydrus microstent), glaucoma lasers such as Micropulse Transscleral Cyclophotocoagulation, Laser Peripheral Iridotomy, Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty and drainage procedures like trabeculectomy and glaucoma tube implants. He also gives MIGS-related glaucoma talks to fellow specialists and international audience.

He is in the Patient Care Committee of the Glaucoma Association of Singapore.

Besides clinical work, Dr Huang is a passionate teacher and was recognized with the National Healthcare Group Teaching Awards for Senior Doctors 2020. 

Dr Huang is active in engaging youths through his church leadership appointments. He is a Core leader and Lead Overseer in the Children’s Ministry, New Creation Church, appearing on Youtube and Instagram videos.
